Summary:
James Madison influenced the United States in many different ways. He started by proposing the first amendments in 1789, and continued on to be President in 1809. After proposing the first amendments, he began being deemed as The "Father of the Constitution." He served as a politician most of his adult life, and after the constitution was drafted, was one of the leaders to help ratify it. He changed the lives of U.S citizens in the 1800’s as well as the U.S citizens of present day.
Of the first amendment's that James Madison proposed, 10 of them became known as the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights protects the rights of the people’s individual liberties as well as the States rights. Without the Bill of Rights citizens would not have the freedom and Independence they did both after the ratification, and now. This is why James Madison became the “Father of the COnstitution”. In 1799 Madison is appointed Secretary of state, and became a very well known political figure. Then in 1809, Madison became the 4th president of the United States. Continuing on to help ratify the Constitution, Madison was continuously impacting the lives of U.S citizens.
After the Bill of Rights was passed, Citizens had new freedoms they could enjoy. One of the most, enjoyed, being freedom of speech. Citizens could speak and write what was on their mind without major government restriction. This changed society drastically. News, voice, and opinion could be freely spread throughout the world. James Madison made an impact on our society, that we will always appreciate.
